Description
The Department of Pathology & Immunology is seeking applications for a Clinical Laboratory Geneticist faculty position. The successful candidate will join a team of clinical laboratorians and molecular pathologists in the newly established Division of Genomic & Molecular Pathology in providing a broad range of genetic and genomic testing within a large academic medical center. The WUSM Clinical Genomics Laboratory provides prenatal, constitutional, oncology cytogenetic testing services as well as an expanding menu of NGS-based testing for inherited and acquired conditions, including exome and genome-based testing. In addition to providing clinical services, the lab serves as a research core, supporting a range of translational projects across the medical center and beyond. Faculty work collaboratively with clinical colleagues in the Departments of Genetics, Pediatrics, and Medicine to ensure provision of high-quality laboratory services. The role includes clinical case sign-out as well as participation in laboratory operations, including validations and quality assurance across the lab’s service lines. The successful candidate will be involved in educating a variety of learners from across the institution, including fellows in the Division’s Laboratory Genetics and Genomics and Molecular Genetic Pathology programs. In addition, clinical faculty are encouraged to develop research programs and collaborations leveraging resources within the department.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a M.D. and/or Ph.D. and be board-certified or board-eligible in laboratory genetics and genomics or clinical molecular genetics and cytogenetics. The ideal candidate will have experience in the validation and implementation of new laboratory methods, excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and a collaborative attitude. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
